Obituary of David Allen Purdy

David Allen Purdy, 55, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord February 11, 2018. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Sunday February 18, 2018 at Rankin Baptist Church in Greensboro, where he was a member. The family will visit with friends, in the church fellowship hall, immediately following the service at the church. A native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, David was the son of Clarice Mae Gupton and Rev. James Herbert Purdy, III. David had worked for North State Chevrolet in the body shop and Turf Service Inc. He had played golf for Guilford County Special Olympics team and won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the North Carolina State Championship. David was also a member of the Men’s group of his church. Survivors include his son Nicholas Allen Purdy of Greensboro; parents Jim and Mae Purdy of Greensboro; sisters Dianna LeBaube and Rev. Rick LeBaube of Mayodan, and Cheryl Swing and Eddie Swing of Chesterfield, VA; brothers Rev. Jim Purdy, IV and Pam Purdy of Burlington, and Wayne Purdy and Carol Purdy of Kernersville; nine nieces and nephews, and four great-nieces and nephews.
